About the Job
The Community Affairs team is seeking a temporary Specialist to help manage Vertex's signature Global Week of Service, which spans more than 20 sites and 16 countries globally, and provide a key thought partnership in creating and driving a year-round Vertex Volunteers program.
This role requires a strong track record in project and events management, experience managing complex logistics across function areas, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate cross-departmentally with critical stakeholders. Candidates should be comfortable with public speaking and have experience managing employee volunteer initiatives, committees, and related data-tracking platforms. This individual will help lead the Community Champions group and volunteer events and assist with planning, tracking, relationship management, and coordination leading up to, during, and after the day of service event.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as thought partner to help develop Week of Service strategy and year-round Vertex volunteers plan and execution
- Achieve annual Week of Service and volunteer goals
- Help oversee and support the "Community Champions" internal employee volunteer group
- Communicate with key partners to help plan and facilitate onsite, offsite, and virtual volunteer opportunities
- Manage WoS and volunteer program project plans and deliverables across teams and function areas to track volunteer opportunities, sign-ups, and participation
- Work across teams to support and execute communications, recruitment, and sign-ups for Week of Service and volunteer events year-round to help elevate the visibility of Vertex's Foundation and volunteer program
- Help lead communications strategy for volunteering by collaborating across teams to help develop and execute internal and external communications planning
- Help track and manage volunteer engagement budget
- Assist with management of the Benevity portal to create volunteer events and track employee engagement and participation
- Manage logistics for WoS and coordinate with facilities to support various events
- Facilitate survey process and data analysis for WoS post-event wrap-up
- Provide project management support external affairs activities as needed to ensure timely execution and cross-functional collaboration
Required Skills
- Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize work; problem solve while meeting aggressive timelines
- A collaborative and flexible team player who is willing to support a variety of activities as needed
- Strong initiative, work ethic and ability to manage up and deliver results with little oversight; Demonstrates good judgment
- Highly organized and able to manage and coordinate schedules for a team
- Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences with varying skill sets and/or levels of seniority
- Project or program management experience, including budget management, event management with demonstrated attention to detail
- Excellent presentation, administrative and communication skills
Required Educations and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in volunteer, event, and project management, marketing, communications, community engagement, or other closely related roles
$65-$75/hr
