Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC) has a non-paid part-time opportunity for a Community Education and outreach Intern in Anaheim, CA.
The Community Education & Outreach Intern supports the Community Education & Outreach Department by providing education and resources on Planned Parenthood services and sexual and reproductive health through various types of community programs and outreach events. In return, the Community Education & Outreach Intern will receive training in the field of sexual & reproductive health, experience providing community-based outreach and supporting youth programs, and learn office and administrative skills.
The ideal candidate is someone who is engaging, professional, has great communication skills, and supports reproductive health care rights and issues. This role will assist a highly driven and passionate team; therefore, an interest in sexual health education and working with diverse communities is highly desired.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions: Essential functions encompass the required tasks, duties and responsibilities performed as part of the job and the reason the job exists.
- Attend community outreach events and engage with diverse community members to raise awareness about Planned Parenthood services and Community Education Programs
- Visit community resource centers to replenish Planned Parenthood resources
- Support engagement with schools and community-based agencies by conducting research into potential new sites and maintaining contact lists
- Assist with the Peer Ambassador Program by attending bi-monthly meetings, providing support with meeting preparation, and helping to execute special projects
- Aide in preparing materials for distribution to staff to support engagement with sexual & reproductive health education and outreach
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education:
- Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student in the field of Public Health, Health Sciences, or other related fields.
Language Requirements/Preference:
- Bilingual skills in English & Spanish preferred.

- Excellent written and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail, strong professionalism, and an ability to work in a team environment are required

- This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
