The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Community Impact Director (Full Time/Grant Funded) based in the ­Philadelphia area.  This position is based in our Philadelphia office, covering the West and Southwest Pennsylvania area.  This position has grant funding through June 30, 2027.  The Director will drive the execution of health impact goals within the area by focusing on the areas of hypertension, nutrition security, and health equity.

• Director is working closely with health centers, community organizations, and community partners in the Philadelphia market to drive health equity.
  
  
• There is a special focus on hypertension and factors impacting hypertension such as social determinate of health and other health barriers. 
  
  
• Director will work to implement quality improvement initiatives with clinical partners.
  
  
• Focus is to increase access to quality care, patient engagement, and reduce barriers to health by engaging community-based organizations to build clinic-community connections that support systemic changes and health promotion activities across organizations.
  
  
• Helping to coordinate an annual quality summit regarding hypertension. 
  
• The director will also work to support an annual learning collaborative summit associated with this project.

• Ensure local opportunities are aligned with the American Heart Association’s broader advocacy, quality, and mission related agenda at the state and region level. Activate support for public policy opportunities.
  
  
• Ability to be intermittently available for off hour community events (evenings/weekends).
  
• Work with internal staff partners to ensure Community Impact strategies are integrated into development, communications and marketing, advocacy, and healthcare quality improvement activities.

• University/College degree or equivalent experience, prefer and a focus on public health, healthcare organization, or equivalent type experience.
• 3 years of relevant experience working with community health issues, ability to interact across multiple acculturation levels and socio-economic groups. 
• Outstanding oral and written communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to simultaneously handle multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraints.
• Must have at intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs are preferred. These skills are subject to testing.
• Validated ability to conduct meetings with internal and external clients including interacting with external partners/sponsors representing the American Heart Association to the public, as necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to handle large projects and events ensuring deadline compliance.
• Ability to efficiently participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients. Ability to influence team members without supervisory authority.
  
  
• Ability to do daily local travel up to 75%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis
