Community Outreach Specialist - N. Austin, TX - Contract
About our client:
MMC is proud to partner with this award-winning employment and training organization, that prepares and places people into productive jobs namely in the state of Texas, Nevada, as well as in Florida. This position is currently accepting resumes, and the individual will be working alongside a very tenured and professional staff in their Austin, TX locations.
About the position:
This role will be focused on working with our partner's current providers, while being actively involved with the community to enroll customers in the State's Work in Texas system. This position will work very closely with the internal Community Liaison. Outreach and recruitment strategies are critical to be able to identify people for in-demand training and to match and place job seekers into available jobs. This individual's aim will be to enroll customers in WIT and potentially helping them find employment within key industries.
Moreover, this person will be highly involved in face-to-face interaction, throughout the community, to elaborate and discuss the WIT programs, with the goal of registering/signing up individuals for upcoming opportunities within the community of Austin. Reaching out to training providers to register individuals completing training into WIT for job search assistance and placement or to offer support services to those that are eligible and are enrolled in training.
A successful individual will possess the following key traits:
- Communication!
- Working independently (once through training)
- Outgoing / Sales-type individual
- Data Entry Skills
- Customer service
Deliverables: Monthly reports detailing the following:
- Number of events attended
- Number of community-based organizations met with
- Number of training providers met with
- Number of WIT enrollments resulting from work within the community
- Number of program enrollments resulting from work within community
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Undergraduate degree preferred.
- One (1) year of relevant experience preferably in workforce development.
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurance with good driving record.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Demands:
Physical requirements include lifting to 10 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, sitting, bending, and walking to perform job scope. Requires visual acuity, speech, and hearing. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. Occasional driving and travel required. Flexible hours may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
