We are seeking a Compensation Manager to lead and manage compensation projects for our organization. This role will be responsible for overseeing compensation consulting projects, providing expert advice on compensation strategies, and ensuring that compensation practices are competitive, compliant, and aligned with our organization’s goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, a deep understanding of compensation principles, and experience in delivering complex compensation projects.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Project Management: Lead and manage compensation consulting projects from inception to completion, ensuring project milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Compensation Strategy Development: Collaborate with HR leaders and stakeholders to design and implement compensation strategies that support the organization’s objectives and attract, motivate, and retain talent.
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analysis to benchmark compensation packages and make recommendations based on industry trends, competitive practices, and internal equity.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze compensation data, create detailed reports, and present findings to senior management to support decision-making.
- Compliance: Ensure all compensation practices are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, and address any issues related to compensation compliance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, and other departments to align compensation strategies with broader organizational goals and policies.
- Training and Communication: Develop and deliver training sessions for HR staff and management on compensation policies, tools, and procedures to ensure consistent application and understanding across the organization.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, such as compensation survey providers, to ensure the quality and relevance of data and services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CCP) is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in compensation consulting, with a strong background in project management.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing compensation programs, ideally in a consulting or project-based environment.
- Experience working with compensation survey databases and benchmarking tools.
- Specialized knowledge of sales or executive compensation is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel or compensation-specific software.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Solid understanding of federal and state compensation laws and regulations.
- PMP or similar project management certification is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Over 6 years experience in an area of expertise with increasing complexity
- At least 4 years of experience supervising and leading staff
- Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to the field of expertise
- Demonstrate industry experience and technical knowledge in area of expertise
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
- Expert knowledge of state and federal legislation and regulations impacting discipline
- Expertise in managing clients
- Advanced problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
