This position is Hybrid (2-3 Days remote/work from home)! Only candidates who are local to Roanoke, VA will be considered.
Compliance Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Compliance Specialist to join our Transmission Line Engineering team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our company adheres to all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. You will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including:
• Maintaining accurate records: You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and organized records of all compliance activities. This will involve using Microsoft Excel to record data and generate reports.
• Monitoring and analyzing compliance data: You will be responsible for staying up-to-date on compliance related standard practices and ensuring our company adheres to them. This will involve reviewing current internal procedures, identifying potential risks, and improving client standard practices.
• Generating reports: You will be required to develop detailed reports and presentations that communicate compliance information to stakeholders at all levels. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Collaboration: You will work closely with other departments such as Transmission Planning, Engineering, and Legal to ensure our business practices are compliant.
Under some supervision, performs work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
1.Responsible for maintaining accurate and organized records of all compliance activities. This will involve using Microsoft Excel to record data and generate reports.
2. Perform varied assignments demonstrating technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solution of problems or analysis.
3. Responsible for staying up-to-date on compliance related standard practices and ensuring company adheres to them. This will involve reviewing current internal procedures, identifying potential risks, and improving client standard practices.
4. Make decisions and contribute to team decision making and consensus building.
5. Required to develop detailed reports and presentations that communicate compliance information to stakeholders at all levels. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
6. Work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary.
7. Provide training and guidance to lower level employees as appropriate.
8. Work closely with other departments such as Transmission Planning, Engineering, and Legal to ensure our business practices are compliant.
9. Preferred experience in a compliance role within the utility industry.
10. Strong understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
11. Research and develop a report detailing circuit milage. Noting and providing explanation for significant increases and decreases in milage.
12. MBR Reporting
13. Monitor in- service alerts and communicate with appropriate contacts to ensure that deadlines are met for PDS Submission.
Minimum Requirements: Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college or an associate's technical degree and 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction or maintenance of systems and/or equipment. Work
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of three years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.
Additional Requirements: Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime and shift work, as required. Travel requirements are expected 5 % of the time Physical demand level is Sedentary Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Listen and identify customer needs/wants. Effectively communicate with team, management, customers, contractors, vendors and regulatory agencies. Knowledge of AEP's general terms and conditions and the experience and ability to correctly interpret and administer contracts. Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques. Demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon our work. Position requires working outside in all types of weather and exposure to hazardous materials. Position may require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks and meet project/outage requirements and schedules. Extensive travel required and possible relocation.
