Job Summary:
The Comptroller manages and coordinates activities and operations of accounting department and staff. They are responsible for establishing financial procedures, controls and reporting systems for AR/AP, billing, payroll and budgets in addition to anticipating operational expenses. Provides reports, support and recommendations to the Board of Directors and Shareholders when applicable to improve financial operations.
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field from an accredited college or university and ten years of work experience in a management level position in an accounting department with 4 years’ experience in a supervisory position. Must have a senior accountant’s background, preferably with an accounting firm. Must have knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Must have a valid driver’s license and social security card issued by the U.S. Social Security Administration, and be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or other person lawfully admitted into the United States. Must pass a federal background check.

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Manage all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
• Analyzes transactions, policies and procedures to determine risk assessment.
• Reviews and analyzes the organization's accounting operation; establishes, develops, and recommends economic objectives and policies to management.
• Prepares and analyzes financial and operational reports; prepares reports required by regulatory agencies; state & local and BOP, banks, insurance broker and other parties as required.
• Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data based on multiple facilities and multiple locations in different states.
• Prepare accrual basis financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Company Income Statement Budget to Actual, Statement of Changes and Income Statements for each facility Budget to Actual on a monthly basis.
• Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
• Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
• Analyzes, reviews, and audits overall general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable systems.
• Prepares conversion to cash basis for tax purposes in anticipation of year-end tax planning. Prepares year end supporting workpapers for tax preparer.
• Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops accounting staff; manages schedules and workflow when applicable.
• Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
• Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations when applicable.
• Monitors activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions when applicable.
• Assists Facility Directors and employees to process medical reimbursements and monthly billing and forward to the BOP by established deadline.
• Oversees payroll-related functions including but not limited to processing new hires, termination status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, benefits, 401K and direct deposits.
• Oversees and assists with the review, verification, and processing of payroll data and assists with the processing of manual checks as necessary.
• Oversees, reviews and analyzes wage and salary reports and data to establish competitive compensation plans.
• Advises and assists senior management on financial issues.
• Travels to other locations when necessary.
• Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance when applicable.
• Evaluate the gravity of decisions by considering the consequences and risk to the company.
• Understands and ensures accounting related items are federal and state compliant.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
