EFK Moen, LLC, is a civil engineering design consulting firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri with additional office locations in St. Charles, Missouri, Chicago and Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia. We are currently seeking a Construction Inspection Civil Engineer for a full-time position in our St. Louis, MO or Fairview Heights, IL Offices. Job Description:
The Construction Inspection Civil Engineer will perform construction inspection tasks on roadway/highway/bridge/site projects. Services are provided to a wide range of clients that include state DOTs and other governmental agencies - municipal, county and state. Project sizes range from small site or roadway improvements to multimillion-dollar highway projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position:
- Responsible for the accurate layout of construction projects
- Ensures that the contractor provides a quality improvement in accordance with the plans, specifications, and special provisions in a timely manner
- Provide accurate and efficient measurements and construction staking as a member of the survey crew
- Keeps accurate and legible records of inspection field measurements and documentation of the contract
- Provide material inspection and testing
- Keeps the field Engineer informed on the status of problems with the contractor's work
- Maintains records as directed by the field Engineer
- Performs duties in compliance with the company's safety rules
- Job duties may require both field work and office work
Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university required
- 5+ years of experience in roadway construction, reading design plans, and specifications
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or Missouri preferred
- Attention to detail and basic math skills
- Working knowledge of surveying and construction layout preferred
- Working knowledge of material testing and testing equipment preferred
- Proficient in contract administration software, MoDOT AASHTOWARE, IDOT CMMS/ICORS is a plus
- OSHA 10 and ACI certifications are a plus
- Working knowledge of CADD (Microstation of AutoCad)
- Working knowledge of DOT/AASHTO Standards
- MoDOT, IDOT, or local public agency project experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with leadership and coworkers
- Valid driver's license required
Physical Qualifications:
- Requires strong physical ability to lift and transport up to 40 or 50 pounds for extended time
- Demonstrate flexibility and/or agility, as well as hand dexterity to operate equipment/tools
- Willingness to endure any/all weather conditions, as well as possible exposures to poisonous plants, insects, snakes, and animals
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to commute and/or travel long distances and/or stay overnight at project locations for extended time
