About the Job
The Construction Manager is responsible for duties associated with the construction and progress of water and wastewater projects.
Essential Job Functions:
- Effectively blends management skills with technical expertise. Displays a genuine interest in the organization and achieving excellence. Keeps entire department up to date on all construction projects and related problems. Keeps department updated on all changes in procedures and materials.
- Reviews improvement plans for subdivisions, new waterline and sanitary sewer improvements, and replacement waterline and sanitary sewer improvements for compliance with current regulations and standards. Corresponds with design engineers, developers and customers regarding requirements for approval. Reviews and comments on new materials and communicates with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Reviews and responds to construction problems regarding changes in site conditions, problems with installation, and problems with residents. Maintains a positive departmental image through good public relations. Receives, reviews and effectively resolves customer complaints related to construction, plan approval, or system related problems
- Reviews completed work including change orders and pay estimates. Responsible for completeness and accuracy of as-built drawings and files.
- Coordinates safety activities to achieve compliance with the Public Employee Risk Protection Program. Analyzes, schedules and provides necessary employee training.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a high school diploma/GED and a valid Ohio driver's license, or state ID.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Applicants should be knowledgeable in improvement plan reviews, conducting field inspections, observing the construction progress, and ensuring compliance with departmental rules and regulations. Applicants should be able to exercise independent judgment, have outstanding organizational skills, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, exhibit sound decision-making when faced with complex or unique situations, consistently deliver general customer service in a professional fashion, and display strong skills in verbal and written communication, organizational abilities, time management and analytical thinking.
