Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced consultant for the Complex Liability Consulting (CLC) practice, specializing in long-tail tort claims such as asbestos, toxic tort, chemicals, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, pollution, environmental, and product and premises liabilities. This role involves implementing strategic plans to optimize insurance recovery for corporate clients with significant mass tort and complex liability claims. The position is fully remote and offers the flexibility to work up to 40 hours a week for candidates with extensive long-tail claims experience.
Responsibilities
- Implement strategic plans to maximize clients’ insurance recovery on high-value mass tort and complex liability claims
- Review and record data related to claims filed, including tracking insurer responses and highlighting key issues
- Conduct research and investigative tasks to determine financial solvency of insurers and identify corporate parent companies
- Set up and monitor claim notifications via email and letter, ensuring that insurers receive notices
- Analyze basic coverage issues related to commercial general liability and excess liability insurance policies
- Organize and manage litigation costs across multiple claims and cases
- Communicate with insurers and clients, providing comprehensive information on coverage, claims, and litigation costs
- Identify and address concerns proactively while maintaining confidentiality of all client data
Client Service
- Review correspondence from insurers, noting material issues for senior consultants and clients
- Coordinate effectively with both clients and insurers to facilitate information flow and resolve queries
- Uphold confidentiality and maintain high levels of accuracy and organization in handling sensitive client information
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 3-5+ years of experience in a law firm, insurance company, or third-party administrator, with long-tail or emerging coverage experience preferred
- Strong understanding of insurance principles, legal pleadings, and claims processes related to long-tail tort claims
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience following established protocols and managing information systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a corporate environment
