JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for organizing, supporting, and assisting the continuous improvement program at Lunds & Byerlys. Specifically, this position is tasked with planning and developing organizational processes with quality and efficiency improvements, establishing performance metrics for continuous improvement events, conducting and assisting with continuous improvement events, assisting with measuring the achievements of the continuous improvement initiatives, assisting with continuous improvement assessment and supporting 5s initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.
- Support in the development and refinement of the continuous improvement implementation plan
- Monitor and support the continuous improvement program initiative for all locations; on-going continuous improvement program follow-up, including 5S initiatives, hour by hour charts, SQCD boards, 30-day lists, standard work forms
- Support and assist with food manufacturing initiatives
- Assist with managing and prioritizing continuous improvement projects, initiatives and special projects
- Assist to identify cost reduction opportunities and long-term improvement opportunities
- Measure and document progress towards meeting objectives related to continuous improvement processes and programs
- Report goals and goal achievement, track and report ROI and results
- Train on continuous improvement concepts and tools
- Train in continuous improvement philosophy, tools and techniques and continuous improvement practices
- Propose, plan and lead continuous improvement events

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent desired;
- Continuous improvement program or similar training
- Experience
- Two or more years of progressive experience in a manufacturing and/or retail environment
- Continuous improvement implementation and/or engineering experience desired
- Training experience desired

- Knowledge of GMP, USDA, FDA, OSHA, AIB and all other regulatory agencies rules
- Ability to follow through
- Project management and decision making skills
- Ability to learn new concepts and assist with classroom training and practical experiences and exercises
- Ability to work effectively with all departments as well as customers and suppliers to accomplish objectives with positive outcomes for all involved
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of continuous improvement or similar (including, but not limited to VSM, Voice of the Customer, continuous improvement leadership, one-piece flow, and 5S)
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English
