About the Job
This position is responsible for reviewing customer contracts in order to identify potential areas of legal and profitability exposure, risk mitigation, liability containment, and to avoid future disputes.
This position is 100% onsite at our office in Carlsbad.
Responsibilities:- Analyzes contractual risk for the following types of agreements: Subcontract, PO/Service, Prime, Credit Application, Property Lease, Equipment Indemnity, Non-Disclosure, Bid Proposal, Equipment Rental, and Insurance Wrap-up Manual.
- Summarizes technical contract analysis for project teams, which includes drafting alternative contract clauses, explaining potential impact, citing relevant state statutes, and cross-referencing similar agreements.
- Drafts amendments and provides historical research on previously approved customer contract changes.
- Analyzes revised draft contracts, checks for discrepancies between final draft negotiated and received agreements.
- Maintains database and tracks progress of all reviewed contracts.
- Is familiar with state and federal contract laws; stays current with legislative changes related to contracts.
- Coordinates with and supports the Bergelectric project teams to ensure a successful contract execution process.
- Responds to inquiries regarding contract execution and modifications; provides support to explain terms and conditions to appropriate parties.
- Reviews lien releases and waivers.
- Serves as a resource for questions on legal language and associated ramifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in business and/or contracts management related discipline.
- Minimum of 2-years analyzing contractual risk in construction contracts.
- Minimum of 2-year drafting contract language.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and strong written/verbal communication skills.
- Capable of analyzing a high-volume of contract terms and conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.

- This is largely a sedentary role; however, this role may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand to complete other administrative functions.
- This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
