Our client, a well-established general contractor in South King County, is seeking a Controller/Bookkeeper to join their team. This company is dedicated to service, innovative thinking, and exceptional craftsmanship. The ideal candidate will be confident, detail-oriented, and experienced in payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger management. This role is vital to the team, overseeing journal entries, insurance renewals, state audits, and HR management. Controller Responsibilities:
- Process in-house payroll for up to 25 employees.
- Manage compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings, quarter and year-end closes, and W-2s.
- Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts.
- Handle Accounts Receivable by sending monthly progress payment requests and supervising Service Department invoicing.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, including collecting and tracking vendor and subcontractor lien releases, warranties, W-9s, COIs, and Year-end 1099s.
- Business reports and financial statement generation (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually).
- Month-end close, including Work-in-Process Contract Schedule and recording over/under billing.
- Generate business reports and financial statements (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually).
- Track claims for L&I, insurance, and accidents.
- Foster working relationships with bank, insurance, and CPA representatives.
- Collaborate with project managers and Service Department managers.
Controller Requirements:
- 8+ years of hands-on accounting experience for a smaller company.
- Sage 100 accounting software proficiency preferred.
- Some experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
