We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our dynamic team in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry. The Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our restaurant chain, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and leading strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, paired with a passion for the fast-paced food service environment.
As the controller of the largest Burger King franchisee, which includes 560 stores and related real estate holding companies. HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
As an integral member of the Team, this position is responsible for:
1. Financial Management:
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls and standards to safeguard company assets.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with leadership teams and monitor budget variances throughout the year.
- Perform financial forecasting to evaluate future revenues and expenses, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
3. Cost Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze costs and operational efficiency to identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor food and labor costs and implement strategies to optimize profitability while maintaining quality standards.
4. Compliance and Tax Management:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax laws.
- Oversee audits and provide timely responses to auditors regarding financial inquiries.
5. Team Leadership:
- Lead, train, and mentor finance and accounting staff to foster growth and development within the team.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to promote financial literacy and effective business practices.
6. Payroll and Cash Management:
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate employee compensation.
- Manage cash flow and reconciliation processes to ensure operational efficiency.
HERE'S WHAT Education & Experience YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably within the QSR or food service industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with POS systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong leadership abilities and excellent communication skills.
