We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of financial reporting and analysis, cashflow management, job costing, and month end processes.

Our ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA preferred
- Ten years of experience in accounting and at least 3 years of experience in commercial construction accounting
- Strong technical expertise in construction accounting and financial management, including proficiency in industry software.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead teams, make strategic financial decisions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in Accounting or Finance. CPA Preferred.
- At least six years related experience preferably in the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of forecasting and financial reports.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret economic conditions and anticipate the impact on the organization.
- Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees.
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
- Ability to work with all levels of management.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Proven leadership and business acumen skills
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and adept in WIP/ other construction industry software.
Responsibilities
- Reviews, evaluates, and implements accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures all financial reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepares and presents financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis.
- Supervises monthly balancing of books and monthly account reviews; prepares and presents monthly financial statements.
- Coordinates annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax documents.
- Supports CFO in coordinating budget preparation, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets.
- Ensures compliance with statutory payroll and property tax reporting.
- Assists with company strategic planning.
- Assists with special projects as required.
- Assist CFO in Risk Management, General Liability, and Workers Compensation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Physical Demands:
- The individual typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.
- The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.
- Frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle, or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
- Please note that climbing stairs is a physical requirement. Some offices contain an elevator, but one must be able to use stairs for fire drills and emergencies
