Job Details
The Controller role within our organization involves collaborating closely with senior management, including the Chief Financial Officer, to develop financial plans and budgets, and report on financial performance. You will also play a pivotal role in establishing company-wide and functional operational goals and enhancing foundational information systems for future growth.
Additionally, you will contribute to special projects and analyses to aid management decision-making. The responsibilities encompass developing operational budgeting systems, including sales, cost of sales, operating expenses, capital investments, and working capital. Monitoring the accuracy and timeliness of these information systems is crucial.
Essential tasks include conducting timely financial closings and preparing income statementd, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Thoughtful managerial accounting and analysis are essential to meet the evolving needs of the business while adhering to GAAP reporting standards.
You will be responsible for maintaining and improving financial planning models for strategic planning, current-year budgeting, and routine updates. Internal control systems for various areas, such as purchasing, payables, inventory management, and capital expenditures, will also fall under your purview.
Managing the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and treasury functions will be part of your daily responsibilities. Additionally, maintaining capital stock registers and an electronic data room to support financing, partnerships, and licensing activities is crucial.
Overseeing tax reporting, including federal and state income taxes, payroll taxes, and sales and use taxes, is essential. You may seek assistance from third-party tax experts as needed.
You will work on improving the cost accounting system for our consumer product business unit and establish effective controls for job/project accounting in collaboration with project management systems. In the realm of corporate development, you will assist in planning and integrating acquisitions, joint ventures, and licensing activities.
Furthermore, you will play a role in investor reporting, ensuring that periodic financial reports are provided to shareholders. Given our ongoing fundraising efforts, you will actively support activities related to private placements of debt and equity, as well as any potential future public offerings. This includes the development of disclosure materials, presentation materials, due diligence support for prospective investors, valuation analysis, and closings.
