About the Job
- Managing payroll tasks such as ADP Workforce Now Time & Attendance, onboarding new employees, conducting payroll audits, and overseeing payroll tax reporting and reconciliations.
- Ensuring all accounting reports and financials, including FOCUS filings, are completed accurately and on time.
- Conducting monthly reconciliations and bookkeeping, preparing wire requests, and overseeing travel & entertainment expenses.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance with net capital requirements.
- Developing and maintaining accounting policies, processes, and systems to ensure optimal controls.
- Supervising the monthly close of company books, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Preparing weekly and monthly financial health reports for management, including revenue/expense summaries and financial recommendations.
- Creating projections, rolling revenue calculations, and Pro-Formas.
- Handling treasury functions for the firm and its affiliates.
- Coordinating audits and continuously improving accounting policies to support key business areas and internal controls.
- Collaborating with upper management to identify and resolve financial issues and suggest procedural changes.
- Managing accounts payable/receivable and expense allocations.
- Assisting with new and existing banking relationships and administration.
- Gathering data for tax filings and supporting the annual audit.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required; CPA preferred.
- Series 27 a plus, but not required (willingness to take the test is essential).
- Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus.
- Prior accounting experience in a broker-dealer, clearing firm, or financial services industry preferred.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks or equivalent accounting platforms and advanced Excel skills required.
- Prior payroll experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum of 6+ years of accounting experience.
- Experience as a broker-dealer FINOP professional is an advantage.
- Preference for experience with ADP Workforce Now.
- Understanding of financial reporting systems, procedures, and controls.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and prioritization abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changes effectively.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of internal controls.
- Effective communication and interaction skills with all management levels, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
