Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller oversees the following areas of the accounting department: accounts payable, payroll, sales tax, income and franchise tax, and auditing; trains and supervises department staff; develops and initiates systems, policies and procedures for transacting financial matters and ensures that the financial system is accurate, efficient and in accordance with professional accounting practices.

Job Details
Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller oversees the following areas of the accounting department: accounts payable, payroll, sales tax, income and franchise tax, and auditing; trains and supervises department staff; develops and initiates systems, policies and procedures for transacting financial matters and ensures that the financial system is accurate, efficient and in accordance with professional accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operational accounting (including GL activity, month end close, payroll, inventory control, capex, cost accounting)
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Good Understanding of activities manufacturing environment such as closing work orders, WIP, setting standard cost rates (labor and overhead)
- Assures the accounting team maintains and continues to improve and develop key processes and controls
- Responsible for establishing controls over transactions and accounting processes
- Business partner to other functions and leadership team
- Works closely with all departments to pro-actively structure transactions to ensure compliance with all accounting policies and procedures
What we're looking for:
We are looking for someone with at least seven years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required with Masters in Accounting and/ or CPA or CMA preferred
- Public Accounting experience is preferred
- Unquestionable attention to detail
- Strong general accountant with great knowledge of GAAP
- Thorough experience with managing an efficient month end close process
- Advanced Excel skills to include: PivotTables, Sumif, VLOOKUP, match/index, etc
- Comfortable with applying prior experience and accounting knowledge to a new environment with little direction. Cannot be afraid of digging in figuring it out, but at the same time this person will not feel unsupported
- ERP systems experience with multiple systems would be ideal. NetSuite experience is preferred
- Experience working with audits and being the contact for the annual audit.
- Experience with sales, income, and franchise tax filings
- Experience managing other accounting staff
- A humble and thoughtful approach when coaching and mentoring others
- Multisite experience a plus
- Travel - Some travel between locations/sites maybe needed from time to time.
