Job Description: The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, and driving process improvements. This role will provide strategic financial insights to executive leadership and manage all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, leadership experience, and the ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
General Ledger & Month-End Close:
- Manage and review all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all reconciliations and journal entries are completed accurately.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate and support external and internal audits, addressing any findings or recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and prepare necessary tax filings.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to set financial goals and monitor performance.
- Provide financial forecasts and updated projections based on business trends and changing circumstances.
- Prepare budget vs. actual reports and explain key variances.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow, forecast future cash needs, and recommend strategies for maintaining liquidity.
- Manage banking relationships and coordinate with financial institutions on various banking matters.
- Oversee debt and investment management activities.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development within the team.
- Recruit and onboard new team members as needed.
Process Improvement & Technology Integration:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and technology integration to increase efficiency.
- Implement and optimize accounting software and ERP systems to streamline workflows and improve financial reporting.
