Controls Engineer (PLC)
We are seeking a dynamic Controls Engineer to join our team at Proconex. In this role, you will not only contribute your technical expertise in designing and implementing control systems but also support our outside sales in selling automation services to clients in the industrial vertical. You will play a vital role in driving business growth and building long-lasting client relationships. You will collaborate with clients, project managers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer requirements and exceed expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, architect, and implement control systems for industrial processes, automation hardware and software solutions.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions to understand client needs and requirements.
- Support in preparing proposals, quotations, and technical documentation for automation projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to foster business growth and enhance Proconex's reputation in the market.
- Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of client requirements to design custom control strategies and architectures.
- Program and configure PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), DCS (Distributed Control Systems), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and other control devices.
- Perform system integration, testing, and commissioning to ensure proper functionality and adherence to project specifications.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for control system installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive automation solutions that optimize process efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market developments to identify new business opportunities and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in industrial automation or process control.
- Experience in support of business development, sales, or client management within the industrial automation sector is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and credibility with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI (Human Machine Interface) development, and SCADA systems.
- Strong knowledge of control system fundamentals, including PID control, loop tuning, and process optimization.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, and Ethernet/IP.
- Experience with Emerson DeltaV or other DCS platforms is highly desirable.
