Job DescriptionAbout the Role: We are seeking a Tech 5 Controls Specialist to join our production team and ensure the seamless operation of our advanced glass container manufacturing line. The selected candidate will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity within a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring safety across all glass manufacturing operations.
- Implementing process improvements to enhance performance and safety.
- Providing technical support in maintenance, troubleshooting, electrical repairs, and programming.
- Supporting all job changes, including mold equipment changes, cleaning, basic repairs, and machine conversions, as needed..
- Overseeing abatement system fault-finding, fine gauge adjustments, forming electronics maintenance, diagnostics, and blower maintenance.
- Maintaining and repairing lehr and packaging equipment, including palletizers, carton erectors, case packers, and stretch wrappers.
- Monitoring and improving electrical and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and medium voltage switchgear.
- Collaborating with regional and global resources to manage all PID, PLC, and HMI programs across production lines.
- Lead problem-solving activities and utilized process data analytic tools to identify root causes.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards, including NFPA 70E, ANSI/ISA95, and S88.
Technical Qualifications:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and PLC languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text).
- Experience in programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems, including Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms (Tia Portal, Studio 5000).
- Familiarity with HMI software such as WinCC, FactoryTalk, or Ignition; Visual Basic programming experience preferred.
- Experience integrating PLC and HMI systems with other control systems like SCADA and DCS.
- Knowledge of process control systems, including sensors, actuators, and other components.
- Experience with medium voltage switchgear (13.8kV) and electrical safety training (NFPA 70E).
About You:
- High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Over 5 years of experience in manufacturing, specializing in electrical controls and comprehensive plant systems.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing shifts in a high-speed, high-temperature industrial environment.
- Hands-on approach with a proactive mindset to drive and execute transformational change.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams, including Plant leadership, EH&S, and quality management.
- Familiarity with optical inspection and container handling devices (e.g., Tiama, Emhart, Heye) and related technologies.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot continuous process defects using advanced data analysis tools.
- Experience with intricate machinery, including CNC, PLC, and automotive drive chains, is highly valued.
Salary Range:
- Pay range for the Tech 5 position is $47.27 per hour, plus overtime and performance-based incentives.
Schedule:
The role operates on a Monday through Friday schedule. Additionally, the successful candidate must be available for on-call support as needed to address any critical issues that may arise outside of regular working hours.
