Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Coordinator of Sterile Processing Services develops a working relationship with healthcare team members and physicians that work within the areas of the Central Sterile unit. You will possess excellent communication skills to effectively counsel, support, and lead others through change and crisis situations. We work hard to support the patients and families in our community while supporting each other in our efforts to provide excellent care. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this Coordinator role:
· You will oversee sterilization of instruments, equipment, utensils, linen and supplies using various types of autoclaves and aerators. You will completes appropriate documentation records prior to sterilization.
· You will be responsible for scheduling staff, including holiday coverage.
· You will work with physicians and staff to order new or replacement instruments. You will research contracts and works with supervisor and materials to meet department/hospital needs.
· You will act as liaison between reps and other facilities in the effort to meet instruments needs.
· You will ensure that work areas and equipment are in a clean and organized condition to maintain required standards for handling sterilized and clean materials and to maintain a safe work environment.
· You will assist in orientation of new employees to each work assignment area and overall department operation.
· You will develop and maintain departmental policies to ensure best practice in sterile processing.
· You will ensure that equipment and supply inventories are adequately maintained in order to provide for the highest quality and continuity of patient care and/or services.
· You will demonstrate knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
· You will make recommendations to Director concerning employee performance issues; such as, hiring, discipline and discharge.
What qualifications you will need:
· American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 7 days of hire.·
· American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred.·
·· Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills required
· Good verbal and written skills required.
