Employ Prince Georges (EPG) Workforce Development Programs target Prince Georges County job seekers, with the goal of connecting them to occupational skills training and lucrative employment, in high-demand industries
The Coordinator, Career Services plays a key role in implementing the goals of the Veterans Career Connections Program and the Encore Experienced Workers Program
Under the direction of the Manager, Career Services, the Coordinator, Career Services has the primary responsibility of engaging and recruiting program participants, and coordinating services and resources to help them obtain gainful employment
This includes establishing connections with regional organizations and businesses, to ensure the programs meet enrollment goals and have adequate business partnerships to ensure successful employment outcomes
The Coordinator, Career Services reports to the Manager, Career Services and works closely with various departments within the organization
The Coordinator will supervise the Career Consultant, VCC and Encore, as well as a Program Assistant and Administrative Assistant

Essential Responsibilities: Program Coordination and Expansion
- Coordinate EPG and American Job Center activities related to the provision of services for participants - Coordinate partnerships and create opportunities to expand programs - Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to produce effective programs Develop and facilitate a strategy for community education and awareness of EPGs programs - Participate in community engagement events and meet with affinity groups and partners, to recruit and inform job seekers affected by barriers to employment, of the services offered and program eligibility requirements - Produce program reports for supervisor and the organizations leadership team Case Management and Direct Services to Participants - Pre-screen candidates to determine eligibility for enrollment in EPGs Programs - Assess participants experience, skills, and certifications to determine skill gaps - Create an employment plan to fill the skill gaps with appropriate reemployment services, training interventions and wrap-around services - Connect participants with resources and services to accomplish established career goals, including obtaining industry-recognized licensing and certification - Provide career counseling, coaching, and case management services to participants in individual and group sessions - Complete processes required to provide funding to participants - Provide supportive services to assist participants during their period of unemployment - Identify job leads and connect them to employment opportunities - Input participant data accurately and timely using available management information systems and databases - Coordinate and monitor job placement follow-up services
Staff Supervision
- Ensure proper training on organization policies, clearly identify job expectations, and desired outcomes - Create a weekly/bi-weekly task schedule for employees, based on business needs - Ensure goals and objectives are being met by each employee and provide timely feedback - Actively seek to resolve any concerns while adhering to policy and standards of behavior
Position Requirements To Be Successful in This Role Youll Need:
- Bachelors Degree in a human service-related field and two (2) years of experience working in workforce development or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Knowledge of community resources, regional labor market and local hiring trends - Working knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and other federal, state, and local workforce development rograms, knowledge of community resources, regional labor market, local hiring trends, and major employers - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and with using MIS database systems - Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must possess a valid Drivers License - Availability to attend monthly, evening, and/or weekend events, as necessary
Other Highly Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience, and Key Characteristics:
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local workforce development programs - Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills - Ability to prioritize work and manage deadlines successfully - Proficiency in using the internet and social media in providing workforce services ???????
