Our client is a very well established, public company in the personal care industry that is an industry leader. They have a friendly but fast paced environment that will challenge scientists to perform at their highest level of success. They are seeking a Cosmetic Chemist to join their team!
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$20 – $26/hr
Position Overview:
A Cosmetic Chemist position is currently available for a contract opportunity from 6 months – 1 year depending on performance. The role is ideal for an experienced scientist who has created hair care products (shampoo, conditioners, gels), foundations, lotions, sunscreens or other related personal care products. The Cosmetic Chemist candidate will have the opportunity to contribute their skills and new ideas toward the growth of the company.
Responsibilities of the Cosmetic Chemist:
- Formulating, research, testing, stability, troubleshooting in regard to the development of new personal care products
- Developing batches from scratch, improving on existing batches of hair care products
- Creative problem solving and collaborations, in particular with the Raw Materials team, to identify and utilize unique raw materials in new products and when updating existing products
- Juggling multiple projects with ease
- Easily interacting and collaborating with team members as well as the pilot plant to ensure easy scale up of products
- Strictly adhering to a cGMP environment and following necessary safety protocols
Qualifications for the Cosmetic Chemist:
- Industry or academic experience working with personal care or cosmetics products- developing or adjusting formulations or doing batch work offering an understanding of formulation of surfactant and polymer systems
- Expertise in chemistry, understanding surface-interface properties and surface characterization
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to share and teach in the area of expertise
- Creativity and self-motivated that will prove successful in an environment where one needs to be able to think out of the box
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or Cosmetic Science or related is required
