JOB DESCRIPTION:
SBI Consultants Inc is currently looking for a Cost Manager / Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our team. Planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated process(es) or a project to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally and reporting to the Project Manager or supervisor of their findings. This Technical Solutions role integral to the project success. As SBI project team member, Cost Manager/APM provides technical expert advice to the client (eg. estimating, scheduling etc.) Responsivities and tasks may vary depending on a project size and stage; Cost Manager/APM may be assigned full responsibility for a process or project technical solution(s) that may require prioritizing work and coordinating tasks among other team members. The Cost Manager/APM should be knowledgeable and able to speak intelligently within the various disciplines and act as the primary technical point of contact for the client. The objective is to deepen and sharpen technical expertise; stay on top of the industry developments and incorporate new knowledge into Technical Solutions. With management support, develop delegation, interpersonal skills and judgement as preparatory grounds for advancing into Senior Estimator or Project Manager role and accept full responsibility for project technical support.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs quantity surveying whether it is measured on plans or using parametric approaches. |
Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the assigned engineering project. |
Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly. |
Coordinates preparation and delivery of project design documents, and bid packages. |
Reviews product design for compliance with customer contract requirements, and related specifications. |
Monitors activities concerned with technical, scheduling, and budgeting developments. |
Analyzes production specifications and capacity data, and performs mathematical calculations to determine processes and resource requirements. |
Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet deadlines according to client expectations. |
Outlines the schedule for each project/stage according to established project milestones, sequences and lead times. |
Expedites operations that delay schedules, and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. |
Confers with project lead to determine status of assigned project(s). |
Work closely with and provide progress updates to the project lead. |
May be assigned full responsibility for a process or project technical solution(s) that may require prioritizing work and coordinating tasks among other team members. |
May support SBI Advisory solutions - due diligence, feasibility studies and risk assessment - for less complex projects or complex projects with supervision. |
Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project. |
Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of the process or project, |
Supports in the Direction and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. |
Prepares the status reports for the Project Manager review; information to be contained such as: progress, schedule and identification items that poses a risk to the schedule and budget (project risk items). |
Confers with project personnel to obtain technical advice in the resolution of problems. |
Coordinates process and/or project activities with government agencies having jurisdiction. |
Supports Business Development efforts: acts as company ambassador, stays aware of possible opportunities to expand client services offerings, participates in proposal preparation work etc. |
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor and/or Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university. 3 to 5 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing a process on a large project or managing a small project is a plus. Ability to read drawings and specifications, perform quality surveying (whether it is measured on plans or using parametric approaches).
Successful candidate must be a problem solver and a team player, who is able to manage time, plan and prioritize assignments to meet clients' demands and project(s) deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
COMPENSATION:
Offered rate of compensation will commensurate with individual education, qualifications, experience, skills and work location. Salary range for this position is $70,000 - $95,000 annually plus Performance Bonus & Profit Sharing Bonus.
