Hennepin County District Court has an amazing opportunity to join the Criminal Downtown Team as a Court Operations Associate! This is a diverse, professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court users.
Court Operations Associates work individually and in teams using independent judgment along with available resources to perform a variety of administrative assignments. This role requires dedication to providing customers with a professional court experience, an eye for detail, excellent communication, time management, and technological skills to match our high-performance environment.
Example of Duties
- Call cases, administer oaths, and record and update court outcomes timely and accurately for both in-person and virtual courtroom settings
- Work collaboratively with judicial officers, court reporters, law enforcement, attorneys, and other justice partners and state agencies
- Assist and communicate with court users in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner to ensure the customer's needs are effectively met in-person, over the phone, or through electronic means
- Perform high-level case processing, data entry, and financial transactions utilizing court technology systems
- Review and process court filings for timeliness, statutory compliance, and proper document security as required by local and court-wide policies and procedures
- Manage court calendars and communicate changes to all parties
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of relevant job experience OR equivalent amount of post-high school education and experience totaling one year.
- Examples of relevant job experience: customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to remain flexible, work well under pressure, and adapt to change in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other job-related software
- Ability to accurately process financial transactions and complete other data entry tasks with an eye for detail
- Skill in navigating difficult situations and resolving issues in a respectful and courteous manner
- A team player mindset, positive attitude, and dedication to an inclusive environment that values diversity and relationships with the ability to resolve interpersonal conflict
- Self-motivated and able to organize own work, set priorities, and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a legal setting such as a courtroom clerk or paralegal
- Experience with document security, imaging, indexing, and working with cases/documents from electronic workflow queues
- Knowledge and working experience with a case processing system such as MNCIS (Minnesota Court Information System) and EFS (Electronic File and Serve)
- Extensive knowledge of current court policies, procedures, processes, and terminology

Logistics
The Criminal Downtown teams are located in downtown Minneapolis:
- Public Safety Facility: 401 South 4th Street, Suite 134 (first floor)
- Hennepin County Government Center: 300 South 6th Street, C-1153 (eleventh floor)
These positions are assigned to the Public Safety Facility team but may assist at the Government Center depending on business needs. Staff are working primarily onsite with potential for occasional remote work, depending on business needs. The core hours for this position are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, but may vary depending on the assignment and operational needs.
Salary Range
The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $22.00 per hour or higher, depending on qualifications. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.
