About the Job
The primary responsibility of the credentialed trainer is to provide Epic training and lead new employees in the MyMichigan Medical Group (MMG) or Urgent Care on clinical, clerical, and quality procedures. Also, will provide refresher and continued training where necessary for current staff using the curriculum designed by principal trainers. This includes preparing for virtual or in-person training classes, lunch and learns, setting up the classroom, facilitating the class, and following up on any outstanding questions that arise in the classroom. Credentialed trainers also collect valuable feedback from trainees in class and report that information to the Epic and MMG Administration. The credentialed trainer is also responsible for additional duties and responsibilities outlined below.
Responsibilities:- (55%)*Lead end-user clinical, clerical, referral trainings and administers end-user proficiency assessments and in-system checklists. Administers post-live refresher, optimization, and skills-enhancement training regarding all Epic workflows, including quality workflows.
- (20%)*Facilitate in-practice trainings and personalization labs for providers and staff. Supports employees and providers with at-the-elbow support if needed for Epic clinical, clerical, and quality workflows. Observe work flow in the practice to better train on the efficiencies of Epic, including quality workflows.
- (15%)*Assist Epic analyst team with maintenance and design of training materials, testing lesson plans and environment builds, as well as other Epic workflow assistance as needed. Responsible for assisting and training incoming Credentialed Trainers and maintains collaborative working relationship with the Epic analyst team.
- (5%)*Train and maintain a core group of super-users in each geography that assist with employee competency check-off and communication of workflow enhancements and changes. Also responsible for creation and distribution of the MMG Friday Epic update email to all employees and response to questions based on the material.
- (5%)*Active member of the Ambulatory and Beacon Committee, MMG Policy Committee, Quality Team, and other ambulatory committees as assigned. Responsible for action on deliverables from these committees. Skills Day super-user responsible for point-of-care training and competency check-off of ambulatory practice staff.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicate clearly and effectively to all types of learners in the classroom setting.
Maintain knowledge of pertinent quality measures and the associated workflows within Epic.
Prior education experience is preferred in classroom management and presentation skills.
Need to be able to be flexible to change and quickly adapt to updates in the curriculum and the training environment.
Must be comfortable using computers and be able to quickly master new software programs. Will need to be able to troubleshoot basic technical issues and be competent with Microsoft, Power Point and Word.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed to various MMG practice locations. To understand the context of work flows, an understanding of the health care industry is important. Individual will train clinical applications; a clinical background is preferred. Thorough understanding of end-users role in the practice and all of the tasks they perform.

Certifications and Licensures:
BLS: Basic Life Support
Within 1 month of hire or transfer
MA CERT: Medical Assistant
As required by Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to be employed through MyMichigan Health all Medical Assistants must possess one of the following active certification/licensure:
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc.)
- Medical First Responder, Emergency Medical Tech Basic/Specialist, or Paramedic though the State of Michigan
- Registered Radiologic Technologist through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
**Prefer completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited organization
Required Education:
High school diploma or GED is required
Associates degree preferred
**Associates degree to be obtained within three years of hire or transfer to this position
Other Information:
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Will need to successfully be credentialed according to Epic standards under the Good Install Program. Advanced knowledge of personal computer and Microsoft Windows, Word, and Power Point.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate at multiple organization levels across the health system as required.
Personal investment in the success of training employees to understand and fully utilize Epic. Project management experience, Epic trained and / or Epic certification preferred.
Two or more years working in training/education field preferred.
Knowledge of clinical practice, change management, adult learning theories, behavior change; leadership, team, and curriculum and culture development.
All other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level:Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
