Position Overview
The Custodial Services Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for overseeing daily custodial operations, managing custodial staff, coordinating facility maintenance needs, and providing leadership in managing custodial services. The Custodial Services Manager works closely with other school departments to ensure smooth operations, support school events, and uphold health and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily Scheduling and Coordination

Plan, develop, and post daily custodial schedules to ensure adequate coverage for routine cleaning and special events.

Assign and coordinate work tasks based on the day's priorities, including event set-ups and special projects.

Lead daily check-ins with custodial staff to ensure effective communication and proper task delegation.
Work Requests and Project Management

Review and manage work requests through the school's maintenance management system (Facilio).

Develop action plans for work requests, ensuring clarification of details and assignment for timely completion.

Monitor the progress of ongoing projects and tasks, ensuring they remain on schedule.
Inventory and Procurement

Conduct weekly inventory checks for custodial supplies, including paper products, liners, and cleaning chemicals, and place orders to maintain necessary stock levels.

Assess new cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment; organize demonstrations for evaluation and suitability.

Oversee deliveries, ensuring accurate documentation and prompt distribution throughout the school.
Event Coordination and Support

Review daily and upcoming events, develop staffing plans, and assign custodial responsibilities for event preparation and clean-up.

Attend weekly calendar meetings and collaborate with other departments to ensure adequate custodial support for events.

Conduct walk-throughs with staff to review event setups and address any questions or concerns.
Customer Service and Communication

Regularly engage with teachers, staff, and departments to assess custodial needs, gather feedback, and resolve concerns.

Maintain professional, open communication with all school departments, including food services, to ensure their setup needs are met.
Office Services Duties:

Oversee and manage all outgoing mail processes to ensure timely and efficient support for school operations.

Manage the receiving function for packages, including organizing deliveries, ensuring accurate logging, and coordinating distribution to the appropriate departments or individuals.
Education and/or Experience
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-
5+ years of custodial experience, preferably in a school or institutional setting.

5+ years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Must perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:

Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs on a routine basis

Use of hands for repetitive use, such as: grasping, fine manipulation

Bending stooping, twisting, crouching, pushing, pulling, reaching, grabbing, and crawling in confined places

Ability to pass a pre-offer Physical Fitness Test.

After hours call availability for emergency building requests, on average 1-2 times per month
