Custodian - Must have Top Secret Clearance (Monday - Friday from 6AM to 2PM) - Akima

About the Job
The custodian plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and functionality within our facilities. Responsible for performing various cleaning and maintenance duties, the custodian ensures that our premises are well-kept and conducive to a healthy environment for employees, visitors, and clients. Work hours are 6 AM to 2 PM (Monday - Friday).
Responsibilities
+ Perform custodial services, to include empty all trash receptacles, collect any other trash throughout facility (interior and exterior), dispose of all trash in applicable dumpsters; wash/steam clean trash receptacles.
+ Sweep entrances and lobbies; vacuum and wipe clean all elevators; spot vacuum/sweep; sweep/damp mop restrooms and breakrooms; spray buff resilient floors; sweep loading dock; clean/vacuum gym floor surfaces.
+ Clean bathrooms and drinking fountains.
+ Dust horizontal surfaces; clean glass entry doors.
+ Clean and vacuum all gym floor surfaces; clean gym equipment, gym mats, and gym furniture; spot clean gym walls within 70” of the floor; clean gym locker room and shower areas; collect gym towels from bins in the locker room and place in linen closet.
+ Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damages to the appropriate supervisor for prompt resolution.
+ Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
+ Collaborate with other staff members and departments as needed to support organizational needs and events.
+ Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to cleanliness, safety, and conduct.
Qualifications
+ Must have Top Secret Clearance.
+ Ability to read and interpret basic cleaning supplies directions and/or instructions.
+ Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work is advantageous but not required.
+ Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies.
+ Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
+ Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and standing.
Physical Demands:
+ Lift and carry heavy objects, such as cleaning supplies, equipment, and furniture, weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
+ Push and pull cleaning carts, move furniture, and operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners.
+ Bend, stoop, and kneel to clean floors, baseboards, and other surfaces low to the ground.
+ Stand and walk for extended periods while performing cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
