About the Job
Allegheny Science & Technology (AST) is seeking a Data Analyst & Power BI Developer to support the Grid Deployment Office within The Department of Energy. This position is 100% remote nationwide and will support EST standard business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST).
The Grid Deployment Office plays a critical role in maintaining and investing in essential generation facilities to ensure resource adequacy while also improving and expanding transmission and distribution systems. Through GDO, DOE executes grid modernization and expansion solutions that help achieve clean energy goals and mitigate climate change impacts while ensuring the availability of efficient, reliable generation capacity, such as hydroelectric and nuclear energy.
Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with and elicit information from engineers and other technical subject matter experts. Skilled at designing and maintaining databases and data systems, the data analyst will ensure informational accuracy and integrity, generate reports and visualizations for stakeholders and help leadership with strategic planning based on the insights gleaned from their work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creating reports for internal teams, external clients and/or stakeholders.
- Collaborating with team members to collect and analyze data.
- Visualizing data with graphs, infographics and other methods.
- Structuring large data sets to find usable information.
- Processing information with a team of analysts and other associates.
- Crafting presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.
- Collects and organizes information required for preparation of reports, studies, and analysis.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise documentation.
- Attend customer meetings and/or information sessions necessary to complete projects.
- Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3 years of experience supporting federal customers in a similar capacity.
- Must have Power BI development experience.
- Must have expert level proficiency manipulating data in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Candidates must work well under tight deadlines.
- Must be scrupulous about detailed work and able to handle repetitive, methodical tasks.

- Data Analysis Skills that are a plus

- Service Now
- Experience in writing/editing technical publications, technology descriptions, or materials supporting technology transfer is highly desirable.
Other Qualifications:
- US Citizenship is required.
