Job Overview:What to expect (duties): Patient Access, Scheduling, Registration, and patient discharge (including all require signatures and follow up). Insurance verification and authorization approval (when required) for O&P services. Entering data into OPIE (business management program), obtaining detailed written orders (including physician signature), and audit of Work In Progress (WIP) up and through date of delivery. Provides Estimates of Fees to families, including discussing their financial obligation (when appropriate) including financial counseling and means testing when indicated. Audit of EMR prior to submission to HO for billing.

Hours: Full-time (1.0 FTE), 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday - Friday (no weekends & great work/life balance!)
Shriners Children’s is seeking a full-time Department Assistant to join our POPS team! This position provides support to the Orthotics Department in the areas of reception, clerical duties and frequent communication with hospital staff, patients, and their families. Additionally, this position supports the department manager in completion of administrative tasks and departmental operations.
Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two years of experience in a healthcare office/Scheduling & Registration setting is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Multi-line telephone experience
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Ability to multi task and handle tight deadlines with grace
- Strong ability to prioritize and organize projects and tasks in a timely manner
- Bilingual English/ Spanish is preferred
