Deputy City Attorney III - City of Berkeley

The City of Berkeley invites applications for Deputy City Attorney III! This classification performs civil legal work of a very complex nature and represents the City by providing advice and counsel to City staff and Boards and Commissions. Incumbents provide comprehensive legal services including drafting administrative rules and regulations, preparing opinions on questions of law and procedure, drafting administrative documents and contracts, and representing the City in administrative hearings, and before state and federal courts. 

Positions at this level provide legal services for a City department, board, or commission in a distinct area of law. The City Attorney's Office is routinely involved in exciting litigation over issues of national interest, such as climate change, surveillance technology, and homelessness.
