Compensation: $80.00 - $95.00/hr

Skillset / Experience: Design Engineer IV

The Design Engineer IV is responsible for researching and developing new products and systems with a focus on creating innovative hardware solutions. This role involves designing, manufacturing, and assembling prototypes, particularly for wearable consumer electronics.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Research and develop blueprints, engineering plans, and graphics for new product prototypes.
• Design and test prototypes to identify issues and optimize production efficiency.
• Utilize CAD software (Siemens NX preferred; SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) to develop models and detailed drawings.
• Communicate effectively with vendors on design for manufacturing (DFM) and ensure alignment in prototype builds.
• Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to prototype, iterate, and conduct experimental tests.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in hardware prototyping, ideally within wearable consumer electronics.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software, particularly Siemens NX, with experience in FPC/PCB integration.
• Practical experience in prototyping using techniques such as 3D printing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in camera integration and optics.
• Hands-on experience with molding and casting elastomers or industrial processes like Liquid Injection Molding.
• Effective communication skills for multi-disciplinary team collaboration.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required
