Who We Want
The Desktop Support Specialist will perform technical support duties on networked computer equipment including physical desktop computers, virtual desktops, printers, and mobile devices. The position will be the initial point of contact for all help desk related duties.
What To Expect
- Receive and respond to help desk calls from end users in a timely and efficient manner; troubleshoot user desktop PCs( Virtual or Physical) and peripheral networked equipment including printers to resolve hardware or software problems and get users back in service as quickly as possible. Analyze, research, and resolve network devices issues and administer solutions.
- Set up and install hardware/software and configure environment for stable and reliable operation; follow through and ensure proper operation and function of desktop PCs and required software prior to final destination delivery; install software upgrades throughout the enterprise as needed or directed. Configure mobile devices to connect to the company’s business network.
- Point of contact for provisioning and deprovisioning of user accounts on multiple platforms
- Perform set up of new hire hardware. Conduct orientation and training on all technical devices provided by the company for new hires.
- Deploy and manage patches/fixes, upgrades, new software and PC/Laptop images.
- Responsible for mobile device management and security.
- Perform administration related tasks for user permissions, directory groups and assist with data protection schemes including backups.
- Administer, configure, and support the company’s phone system and its components.
- Write IT related program documentation, operating instructions and training materials for the company.
- Help team administer server backups and restores.
- In conjunction with the IT Manager, procure, receive, and document inventory of all computer equipment and software licenses
- Work with IT team to ensure compliance regarding IT policies and procedures
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned which, among other items, may include ad hoc special projects
- Travel may be required. Typically, under 10% of the year.
What You Need
- Certifications in MCSA, Network+, A+ desired
- Experience and strong working knowledge of all recent versions of Microsoft Windows OS along with MAC OS X and IOS
- Knowledge and/or experience working with a VMware Horizon VDI environment
- Experience with desktop imaging and administration, automated software deployment, and group policy management
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 administration
- Experience in support issues
- Understanding of network and server services including Active Directory, Microsoft supporting Cisco VPN requests and DHCP, Microsoft DNS
- Ability to work independently by own initiative
- Strong problem solving and communication skills required
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Physical Requirements: lift and carry 25+ lbs
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS or related field preferred
- One to three years of network related IT experience
- One to three years of help desk related support experience
