BWXT is currently seeking an Advanced Development Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The Advanced Development Engineer will execute customer-funded development work on advanced designs.
Job Description/Duties:
- Develops next generation components and fabrication methods as related to current and future product, processes, and methods.
- Designs and executes development workscopes independently and in teams.
- Supports shop floor development operations, resolves fabrication issues, and generates process improvement ideas.
- Supports associated equipment acquisitions as needed.
- Prepares operating procedures, drawings, and electronic shop floor routing documents.
- Prepares customer submittals to transmit information and plans.
- Authors reports documenting process/material testing, structural analysis, and well-engineered solutions to problems.
- Participates and/or leads project teams to solve problems or initiate new projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. A Master's degree may substitute for experience. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.
- Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant engineering experience.
- NOG-L Lower Tier manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively work with both hourly and salary employees.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative design team is required.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
