We are a fast-growing, locally owned and operated refuse company looking for a Compactor/Diesel Technician to maintain and repair our current fleet; and be a key role in our Compactor installation, repair and maintenance. Working hours are 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday through Friday. We have much to offer a candidate with a new shop, new equipment, and great benefits. Responsibilities:
Diesel Technicians will work with a team to ensure vehicles are safely and efficiently operating to the driver’s needs and meet all DOT requirements. Duties include inspection, running diagnostics, performing repairs, testing all operations, and maintaining accurate records. Services are performed on engines, wheel-ends, chassis, inside cab, compaction, automation, electrical, and body.
Compactor Repair Technicians are responsible for the preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure equipment safety and longevity. Duties include installation and removal of compactor units; preventative maintenance; inspection, diagnostics, repair, and operation of compaction equipment at Ankeny Sanitation and on customer sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical Expertise: A Compactor/Baler Technician should have a strong understanding of the operation, maintenance, and repair of compactors and balers. They should possess in-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical components, and mechanical systems related to compactors and balers.
Mechanical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues is essential. The technician should have hands-on experience with repairing and maintaining various types of compactors and balers, including knowledge of hydraulic systems, motors, belts, and pulleys.
Electrical Knowledge: Understanding electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, and electrical components is crucial for diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in compactors and balers. Familiarity with electrical safety protocols and regulations is also important.
Problem-Solving Abilities: The technician should have excellent problem-solving skills to identify and rectify issues with compactors and balers efficiently. They should be able to diagnose problems, propose solutions, and implement effective repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Safety Consciousness: Safety should be a top priority for a Compactor/Baler Technician. They must adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines while working on compactors and balers. Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and a strong commitment to workplace safety is essential.
Attention to Detail: Precise observation skills are necessary to identify potential issues and perform accurate diagnoses. The technician should pay close attention to detail during inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure that all components are in proper working order.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are vital for a Compactor/Baler Technician. They should be able to communicate clearly with colleagues, supervisors, and customers regarding equipment issues, repairs, and maintenance requirements. This includes both verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Stamina: The job of a Compactor/Baler Technician may involve physical exertion, including lifting heavy parts, climbing, and standing for extended periods. The ability to perform physical tasks and work in various environmental conditions is necessary.
Time Management: The technician should have strong time management and organizational skills to complete tasks within deadlines. They should be able to prioritize and multitask effectively to handle multiple repair and maintenance jobs simultaneously.
