Location: Local shop (Spicer, MN) with travel to various sites as needed
About the Position: As a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic with our company, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our construction fleet. This position involves diagnosing and repairing a broad range of heavy to medium-sized construction equipment. Based out of our local facility, you will also travel to multiple project sites for onsite repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections and operate equipment to identify necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with supervisors and peers to discuss and resolve equipment issues.
- Perform repairs, replacements, calibrations, adjustments, and rebuilds on various equipment components.
- Test equipment post-repair to ensure they are operating correctly.
- Manage fluid changes and lubrication, replace worn parts, and complete regular service and maintenance tasks.
- Undertake welding and fabrication tasks as required.
- Stay updated with equipment manuals and service bulletins and attend relevant training sessions.
- Assist in ordering parts, materials, and supplies for maintenance and repairs.
- Accurately record details of work performed, time spent, and materials used.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 2-year AAS degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent experience.
- Prior mechanical experience on heavy equipment, particularly asphalt plant equipment, preferred.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Committed adherence to all safety regulations and personal protection equipment requirements.
- Willingness to travel within Central and Western Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and Eastern Dakotas is required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Perform physical activities such as walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and stretching.
- Capable of handling objects up to 50 pounds.
- Work in outdoor conditions across various weather scenarios.
- Frequent travel and the willingness to work extended or overtime hours as needed.
