About the Job
The primary duties include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine components, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.The Diesel Tech needs to be highly organized and communicate effectively, as they will be expected to maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and interact with staff on a daily basis.Responsibilities:Build, rebuild and repair all parts of company equipment as may be required in the department to which they are assigned.Replacing vehicle engine components, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.Diagnose any mechanical, electrical or other breakdown or failure to a motor truck or related equipment.Performs other maintenance related work as required.Read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators and other electronic diagnostic tools.Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of the component parts and systems on the truck or truck tractor; or the component parts and systems of the trailer.Apply knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations.Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standard.Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Performs minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance on all equipment. Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles and all required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Conducts safety checks on vehicles. Assists other mechanics in the completion of project work. Assists with service calls for breakdowns. Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.Running diagnostic tests on vehicles and analyzing diagnostic test results.Adhering to an inspection checklist.Maintaining a parts inventory.Mechanic shall distribute workload to other mechanics and candidate will be considered a Lead.Diesel Tech Requirements:Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.ASE Diesel Certification preferred.Valid CDL "A" driver's license preferredAptitude for mathematics and science.Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components and diagnostic equipment.Good IT and diagnostic skills.Physically fit and able to lift up to 100 pounds.Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.Attention to detail.Good interpersonal skills.Excellent verbal communication skills.Good organization skills.
