Allegria Village, a senior living community in Dearborn, is currently hiring a Lead Cook for our Assisted Living/Skilled Nursing Dining room.
Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the organization, preparation, cooking, and serving of meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists the Director in organizing and delegating the workload for food service staff.
2. Assigns job duties to employees and supervises workers.
3. Assists the Director in maintaining control of inventories and ordering supplies. Receives, inspects, stores and inventories supply and equipment.
4. Estimates appropriate quantities of food needed to prepare assigned recipes ensuring that no overages/shortages occur.
5. Directs, monitors and assists with the preparation and serving of food in accordance with established recipes and nutritional guidelines.
6. Maintains standards of work, sanitation, and safety, ensuring the food items are properly stored, cooked, shipped and served in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner.
7. Covers stations due to shortage in staff.
8. Other related duties as assigned.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to independently problem solve. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff. Knowledge of techniques of supervision, training and safe work practices.

Physical Demands:
Lift and move up to 50 pounds. Walk and continuously required to stand.
Education and/or Experience:
-Certification from a culinary institute or equivalent
-Minimum of 2 years' experience as a lead cook in a dietary or hospital environment.
Licenses, Certification:
-ServSafe certified
