Job Description: Digital Communications Specialist
Reports To: Senior Philanthropist and Development Officer
Job Summary:
The Digital Communications Specialistpromotes 21st century educational excellence through the vigorous support of the mission and goals of the Intensive Education Academy (IEA) and employs high professional standards while working cooperatively with administration, faculty, staff, students, families, and the community in the best interest of IEA students.
The Digital Communications Specialist enhances and sustains a positive image of IEA with key constituency groups and the larger community and works as a member of the development team with the goal of supporting and enhancing the mission of the institution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Communications, Marketing, PR, or related field.
At least 3 years in nonprofit marketing, development, or communications.
Skilled in social media management, content creation, and website management.
Experience in donor relations, event planning, and fundraising communications.
Strong writing, editing, and design abilities for compelling content.
High energy, creativity, flexibility, warmth, and humor.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Required Skills:
Proficient with CMS and design tools (Adobe Suite, InDesign, Canva).
Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to work with faculty, staff, students, parents, and the community.
Committed to customer service, donor, and district relationships.
Team-oriented, yet able to work independently within administrative guidelines.
Skilled in records management, data collection, report preparation, and event support.
Capable of composing correspondence and reports from brief instructions.
Proficient in data analysis, progress monitoring, and reporting for engagement, communication, and fundraising.
Knowledge of web accessibility standards (ADA, W3C).
Familiar with donor databases like DonorPerfect and Mailchimp.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage IEA’s social media, website, and content, ensuring engaging, accessible, and compliant materials. Oversee the creation and execution of the Communications Plan, including appeals, events, and donor database management. Create and edit content for newsletters, campaigns, and reports while supporting grant research and tracking.
Regularly engage with donors through personalized phone calls to express gratitude, provide updates, and strengthen relationships, ensuring continued support for our mission.
Collaborate with the Development Officer at networking events, assist with media relations, and handle IEA publications and newsletters.
Photograph school activities for communication purposes and manage school pictures. Develop alumni relations, branding, and promotional materials, supporting student recruitment and onboarding efforts.
Support IEA events like the Gala and monthly engagements, assist PTO tasks, and help with holiday giving communications.
Manage the online store and oversee marketing tools, maintaining relationships with the media. Work with vendors, monitor marketing trends, and manage the marketing budget.
Assist with the workflow of the Development Office, attend meetings as needed, and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Director or Leadership Team. This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to emerging needs.
