Position Summary:
The Broadcast Services Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Broadcast Services division of the Operations department. The Broadcast Supervisor will oversee all broadcast equipment, and technical services provided by the venue while also supervising full-time and part-time broadcast technical staff and ensure the growth of the billable technical services provided by the facility. This position will oversee the development of new services, and the development of technical staff.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise all broadcast technical service staff, oversee technical equipment, and maintain broadcast infrastructure for Galaxy games, concerts, commencements, and special events. Assist the Broadcast Manager with the day-to-day execution of various video distribution and audio routing tasks for these events.
- Determine technical requirements and set up equipment, as well as coordinate and supervise the activities of support personnel. Assist users with difficulties associated with video servers and signal distribution, analog and digital mixing, graphics ingestion, camera systems, and wired and wireless intercom systems.
- Ensure all graphic elements meet content guide specifications for all control room systems. Implement and oversee communication workflows and deadlines for content and testing of all deliverables. Collaborate with the producer to revise content promptly for the event.
- Effectively schedule audio and video staff and equipment for the timely and flawless execution of events. Supervise, train, and provide technical direction to assigned staff on professional development, event production, and industry best practices.
- Work closely with the event services and facilities teams to prepare for events.
- Oversee and perform preventative maintenance on broadcast equipment, maintaining a clean, labeled, and organized inventory of equipment and tools. Develop standards and best practices to efficiently manage equipment use and maintenance for events, including check-in/check-out documents and maintenance logs.
- Work with third-party vendors to ensure maintenance contracts are implemented. Oversee the maintenance of production systems, upgrades, installations, and ensure service contracts are met.
- Provide mentoring and technical training to all levels of Broadcast Technicians. Training includes audio and video distribution, complex signal flows, signal conversion, fiber continuity, and control room systems.
- Maintain technical knowledge of all broadcast systems and carry out operational duties as needed for events or projects. This includes setup, operation, maintenance, organization, installation, and deployment of any broadcast, audio, video, timing/clock, digital signage, and scoreboard equipment on campus.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work under pressure in order to meet broadcast deadlines, make decisions, and take corrective action under tight timelines
- Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building within management team and staff
- Strong computer skills using programs as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to analyze problems and provide workable solutions within a short amount of time
- Advanced troubleshooting skills
- Advanced practical and theoretical knowledge of fiber optic transmission systems as they relate to broadcast industry
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Good customer service skills
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- Ability to lift, push, pull 25lbs.
Pay Scale: $32.54- $40.00
