A young autistic man in his mid-20s is looking for a mentor/ assistant SDE (self-directed employee) to help him with his communication, learning goals, and community activities throughout the day. This person is smart, educated, and has a good sense of humor, and currently resides in the Princeton area. The ideal assistant must be patient and a good listener with a playful personality. Paid training will be available that includes, but is not limited to working with his current mentors to learn the job and to get to know the individual. You will also be learning the Rapid Prompting Method and Spelling to Communicate. These are two types of communication systems for non-verbal individuals with motor apraxia.
Payrate: $25 per hour
Schedule of Services: 6-12 hours per week based on individual availability schedule. Monday's preferred (6 hours), and also possible an additional evening (3 hours) and one weekend (3 hours.
Qualifications:
Must be willing to be social.

Staff must be willing to be open-minded and come with a positive attitude.
Staff must be willing to remember that you are working for a person and not a label.
Must be around the same age as individual or older
Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent. College or some College preferred.
Preferences are given to those with any kind of coaching or teaching background.
Preferences are given to those with experience as babysitter or caregiver.
Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.
Must be willing to be able to pass a background check.
Must be willing to be able to pass a drug screening.
Must be authorized to legally work in the United States
