Job Summary
JOB SUMMARYResponsible for the development, implementation and management of key elements of the Medline Enterprise Ethics & Compliance Program, including developing a work plan and associated milestones for the Enterprise Internal Investigations, International Anticorruption / FCPA, and Enterprise M&A Due Diligence programs, as well as other key projects and programs as needed. As part of the Global Ethics & Compliance Leadership Team, provide visible ethics and compliance leadership to the Enterprise and support to the global Ethics & Compliance organization, ensuring effective and efficient planning and execution of Compliance goals and projects.
Promote and enforce compliance with applicable laws and regulations, applicable accreditation standards and related Enterprise Policies and Procedures, with a focus on business operational compliance.
Encourage high business standards to advance company objectives, benefit the company's customers and employees and protect the company's reputation.
Job Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Help identify, manage, and mitigate potential FCPA and international anticorruption risk, taking into account legal requirements, applicable regulator guidance, industry trends, and past and planned business activities. Work closely with Global Chief Compliance Officer, Regional Compliance Directors and counsel, and members of the Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC) to continue to develop and implement international aspects of the Enterprise Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption (ABAC) Program.
Work closely with Global Chief Compliance Officer, Regional Compliance Directors and counsel, and members of the Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC) to continue to develop and implement Enterprise Internal Investigations Program. Oversee, conduct, assist with, and triage investigations related to allegations of compliance misconduct. Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop remediation and corrective action plans based on the results of internal investigations.
Manage project deliverables, finalize status reports, and establish effective project communication plans as well as the proper execution of said plans.
Manage tracking, trending and analysis of observations across activities to identify compliance strategies and opportunities, including guiding additional controls, policies, processes, training or communication.
Recommend and assist the business units in implementing compliance controls, implementation, and corrective action plans.
Monitor and report on adherence to compliance controls, including internal investigation trends.
Work closely with Global Chief Compliance Officer, members of the Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC), the Legal Department, and the M&A team to develop and implement pre- and post-closing compliance due diligence process, protocols, handbooks, etc. Oversee, conduct, assist with, and manage third parties to consistently and effectively conduct compliance due diligence in connection with Medline’s M&A activity.
Management responsibilities include:
--Manages ABAC due diligence staff
--Exercises influence to manage risk throughout the global organization
--Comfortable reporting various topics and providing training to all organizational levels
--Estimating and recommending staffing needs, pay increases, performing performance reviews, training and development of staff, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor’s degree.
Work Experience
At least 7 years of experience in legal, compliance, audit, regulatory, quality and/or clinical role.
At least 4 years of experience investigating, auditing, or counseling to ensure adherence to legal standards and in-house policies and enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on compliance matters.
At least 4 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to manage peers and departmental support to achieve individual and OEC goals.
Familiarity with compliance operations, including development and implementation of programs, procedures, operational systems and internal ethics and compliance reporting platforms (e.g., NAVEX).
Experience collaborating with internal and/or external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
Experience and skills in influencing, leading and directing individuals in multiple functional areas.
Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
Experience with SAP and compliance software.
Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).
Position may require travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state, out of state and/or internationally).
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Graduate degree in business, health care or related field.
Certification / Licensure
Certified compliance professional.
