Role Summary:The Director, IT Infrastructure - Data Center leads all facets of Alaska Airline’s infrastructure, including server, storage, data base administration, end point management, and cloud computing. This position is responsible for our overall data center and cloud strategies. This Director provides the technical leadership to implement architecture and standards across infrastructure platforms.
Key Duties:- Responsible for all infrastructure platforms, such as servers, storage, data base administration, end point management, cloud computing and data centers. Creates an environment that is stable, reliable, and built with quality.
- Provides technical leadership to implement architecture and standards across infrastructure platforms.
- Establishes goals and metrics, determines opportunities for improvements, and assigns individual responsibilities.
- Establishes programs with committed metrics/SLAs and consistently communicates performance against these and other goals.
- Determines and acquires resources needed for projects and support activities.
- Determines the long-term strategy for cloud, data centers and other infrastructure platforms.
- Develops policies, procedures, standards, controls, and security audits.
- Directs business planning requirements for internal stakeholders, customers, and partners, including but not limited to budgeting, scheduling and workload planning. Plans and manages resources to ensure all projects meet obligations and budget expectations.
- Directs multiple, larger and complex projects and/or technology initiatives and applies innovative solutions.
- Leverages expertise of server, network, storage, database, cloud and end point architecture to evaluate and implement new technology.
- Manages investments in technology to deliver cost effective and scalable solutions.
Fosters collaborative internal/external client relationships and takes ownership of the relationship to ensure client objectives are met. - Leverages third party vendors and outsourced resources to maximize the effectiveness of the organization and provide cost effective solutions.
- Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and disciplines.
- Shape culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
Participates in and joins the Sev1 outage response.
Required
- A minimum of 8 years of information technology or related systems experience, with an emphasis in server, storage, database administration and end-point management.
- A minimum of 5 years of management and technical leadership experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related discipline.
- An equivalent combination of training, experience, and education will be considered in lieu of required experience and/or degree.
- Expert knowledge in tier 3 infrastructure support.
- Proven tier 3 engineering practices including: design, architecture, implementation, high availability, disaster recovery and sustainment.
Preferred
- Expertise coaching and mentoring leaders and teams.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a culture of superior customer service.
- Broad knowledge of current developments in computer industry and the ability to apply these to business issues.
- Proven track record of project planning, management, and execution.
- Strong data analysis skills to identify baselines, trends, patterns, and systemic problems.
- Ability to think strategically, act tactically, and deal effectively with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of latest WAN, LAN, telephony, virtualization, cloud, mobile, social, security and OS, server, database, and back up technologies.
- Experience moving data centers.
- In-depth understanding of IT architectures, along with development, build and QA processes.
- Knowledge of agile delivery methodologies.
- Knowledge of Cisco UCS, Chef, and NetApp.

The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
