Title: Logistics Director
Reports to: Vice President
Location: Flushing, NY
Restaurant Depot is the leading wholesale distributor of food, equipment and supplies to independent grocery retailers and foodservice operators across the United States. The company operates two different warehouse formats, Restaurant Depot and Jetro Cash & Carry - 134 locations in total across 34 states.
We seek a highly motivated, technically proficient and commercial manager for our logistics team. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects that have far reaching implications for all stakeholders across our organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage, train and monitor the performance of a team of direct reports (~15 individuals)
- Show an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to constantly change and improve the way our business operates
- Willingness to collaborate both internally with other departments and externally with our stakeholders to create and constantly improve our practices
- Create processes and methods to gather, analyze, monitor and report on logistics data
- Oversee the analysis of lane and vendor data to identify problematic areas in our supply chain and implement cost effective and practical improvements
- Measure and report on performance against various targets/benchmarks for our activities
- Ability to identify root causes with supply chain issues – implement solutions and present results
- Coordinate and work with across functions to investigate and analyze how logistics costs flow through our organization
- Demonstrate cost saving initiatives to improve the operational and cost performance of our transportation models
- Gather and identify opportunities for process optimization
- Oversee the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports around key metrics
- Conceive of new ideas and projects to improve the performance of the department
Skills and Experience:
- Supply Chain experience is advantageous but not a pre-requisite
- Experience as a Financial, Business, Data or Supply Chain Analyst or a similar role
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Excel
- BA/BS Degree required; Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or equivalent preferred
- Experience managing direct reports, building SOPs, coordinating and communicating across different functions in the organization highly advantageous
- Experience in financial (or other quantitative) reporting including development and maintenance of reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
