This position is based out of our Burlington, MA headquarters location, where we work a required hybrid schedule of in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and remote on Wednesdays and Fridays.

What You’ll Accomplish

This position is responsible for leading the successful development of new packaging offerings as well as leading and developing a growing team of packaging engineers. Key accountabilities for our Director Packaging Development will be the renovation of our current packaging infrastructure and associated processes as well as spearheading our packaging sustainability ambitions. The role will report to our SVP Nutrition & Technical Services and will be based out of our Burlington, MA Headquarter location. Here’s a little more detail about what you’ll experience in this role:

• Coach and develop our team of packaging engineers to become future packaging leaders; provide hands on technical direction as well as implement training and experiences that will develop our team for long term success
• Drive executional excellence from a technical packaging perspective on all projects from concept through commercialization.
• Lead cross-functional packaging initiatives, including our ambition to provide sustainable packaging across all product offerings
• Challenge internal and external stakeholders and partners to ensure all packaging quality expectations are met or exceeded in support of our current business
• Be at the forefront of external packaging innovation, partnering with suppliers and technical institutes to investigate and develop new innovative packaging options based on industry breakthroughs and sustainability offerings.

Specifically for this role, we also need someone who possesses:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering: packaging, mechanical, chemical, or industrial

• A minimum of 10 years of experience working with packaging technology in the Consumer Package Goods industry, ideally including pet food experience
• Proven success effectively coaching and managing direct reports in a fast-paced work environment
• A strong understanding of packaging science and practical application in the CPG manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated leadership abilities within a team that is comprised of both technical and non-technical team members
• Ability to travel up to 25% (both domestic and international)
