Job DescriptionAs the Director of Safety and Emergency Services, you will develop, implement and monitor the Safety Program, Emergency Management and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at Southside Hospital.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Commercial Construction Safety experience is highly preferred.

- Prepares and monitors annual budget projections for capital and operating expenses.
- Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; and oversees the development and management of indirect reports.
- Develops and maintains the facility's comprehensive all-hazard Emergency Operational Plan, including various policy documents.
- Intervenes whenever conditions exist that pose an immediate threat to life, health and/or damage to equipment or property
- Chairs the Safety and all emergency related ad hoc committees.
- Participates as a member of the PICG, Radiation Safety and Infection Control Committees.
- Coordinates and/or participates in the development of departmental and facility wide Safety, Emergency Management and EMS policies and procedures.
- Liaises with Police, Fire and other Emergency Services or other regulatory agencies.
- Functions as one of the hospital's designated safety and emergency officers.
- Coordinates and/or participates in the hazard surveillance, vulnerability analysis, risk assessment processes and emergency preparedness activities.
- Organizes scheduled rotations for Emergency Management and EMS students.
- Manages all grants that fund the program.
- Conducts Environment of Care Rounds with the team. Coordinates the process.
- Coordinates and conducts the hospital-wide safety and emergency related education and orientation and continuing education programs.
- Coordinates an ongoing organization wide process to collect information about deficiencies and opportunities for improvement in environment of care programs.
- Initiates appropriate action based on the analysis of data provided by the Environment of Care Information Collection and Evaluation System.
- Coordinates the annual evaluation of the EMS, Emergency Management and the Safety Management Program.
- Assists in defining performance indicators for the evaluation of EMS, Emergency Management and the Safety Management Program.
- Participates in the pre-construction risk assessment process to determine the need to implement interim life safety and emergency measures and other risk reduction strategies.
- Assists Security with the implementation of fire drills.
- Completes continuing education as required by credentialing, licensure or certification.
- Prepares and disseminates reports.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field, required. Master's Degree, preferred.
- Current NYS EMT Certification by the New York State Dept of Health, required.
- EMT-P National Registration, preferred. CCEMT-P Certification, preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible experience, including safety experience in a hospital setting.
Commercial Construction Safety experience is highly preferred.
