About the team and what we'll build together
The Director of Software Engineering manages multiple development squads within the Software Engineering group at Kobie. As a key component of our strategic roadmap and client implementations, the right candidate should have experience managing growth, development, and architectural solutions for large R&D projects. You will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering.
The Director of Software Engineering is the primary lead of the software engineers, interfacing with product owners, QA, architects, and business contacts. You will be leading a diverse set of skilled engineers to develop software solutions. You will also assist in the management process and resource planning and will be responsible for driving results, team momentum, and positive educational growth for the team.
You will participate in the business and technical relationship with the product organization and will be tasked with leading a team in the creation of quality solutions, planning resources, and managing the professional development of the team. You quickly understand business problems, are an effective communicator, and can lead in the creation of solutions that utilize current technology and work within the service provider landscape.
The Director of Software Engineering will articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users and must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal counterparts and prospect/client stakeholders throughout the product development cycles.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of people management experience with responsibilities in performance management, monitoring professional growth, and inspiring teams while being hands on with technical development, strategy, and direction.
- Lead teams to produce quality work elevating their technical capabilities through mentoring and identifying growth opportunities.
- 10+ years of hands on development and technology experience with software and testing within our technical stack including Java, Spring, Angular, functional code, and testing.
- Maintain complex and highly available software in production environments and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Automate deployments through CICD.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate incident response procedures. Including managing 24/7 on call support team.
- Run production software development operations in a cloud-based container environment with technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform and guide teams to do the same.
- Ensure software quality by being familiar with test-driven and behavior-driven development (TDD, BDD).
- Design robust, modular, reusable software by applying and promoting design patterns, interfaces, and communication protocols.
- Manage the software supply chain, including dependencies, open-source governance, versioning, build/buy and vendor selection.
- Technically savvy person who can dive deep into Kobie, that has backbone, and influence power to move and inspire a team.
