The Role
We are seeking a driven and experienced Director, Technical Product Owner, to lead agile squads through an exciting phase of digital product growth. This individual will work closely with business and technology teams to define, develop, and execute on product vision and roadmaps, translating business objectives into technical requirements. You’ll join an innovative team committed to crafting insurance solutions for both individual and small commercial clients, creating an exceptional customer experience through our advanced digital platform.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with senior product, design, development, and GTM teams to convert business roadmaps into technical solutions.
- Technical Vision & Strategy: Serve as the technical product champion and subject matter expert, conveying customer and partner requirements to development teams.
- Communication and Alignment: Act as the bridge between business and development, data, and operations teams, aligning on product direction.
- Customer Focus: Translate customer needs into actionable requirements for development cycles.
- Iterative Improvement: Drive ongoing adjustments to optimize the customer experience.
- Market & Trend Analysis: Partner with marketing teams to integrate consumer insights into platform improvements.
- Documentation & Risk Assessment: Ensure accurate technical documentation, assess technical risks, and lead capability analyses against competitors.
- Vision for Digital Product Capabilities: Proven background in driving innovation in B2C, B2B, or B2B2C spaces with a deep understanding of API and microservices architecture.
- Collaboration: Strong inter-team collaboration skills, bridging technical, marketing, and IT teams.
- Agile Leadership: Skilled in Agile methodologies, leading product vision, requirements, and backlog management within an agile framework.
- Customer-Centric Product Management: Demonstrated success in developing products with a strong customer experience focus, achieving product-led growth.
- Inclusive Leadership: Creates team environments that foster trust, empowerment, and ownership of outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience: 15+ years in technical and product development with a minimum of 10 years in a software product owner or similar role; 3-5 years in a management role leading product owners.
- Product Development: Background in high-engagement, digital consumer products on API-based platforms.
- Technical Tools: Proficient in project management tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Stakeholder Communication: Ability to engage with customers, partners, and development teams to set requirements and refine deliverables.
- Desirable Skills: Familiarity with tokenization, AI, mobile development, React, and Python.
- Travel: Up to 15%.
- Location: Preferably Chicago hybrid, though candidates across the U.S. will be considered.
