We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Controller for our rapidly growing construction division in the finance industry. This role is pivotal in managing the financial actions of the company, including tracking cash flow and financial planning, as well as analyzing the company's financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our accounting and financial processes are not only accurate but also help drive our company's overall success. This position reports directly to the CFO and will play a strategic role in setting and achieving the financial goals of the company.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounting operations for the construction division, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
2. Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, report variances, and conduct a monthly financial review.
3. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting, including the development and implementation of internal control policies and procedures.
4. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
5. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
6. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors.
7. Evaluate and manage risk, perform due diligence, and engage in cost management and project management reviews.
8. Collaborate with the CFO to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or MBA preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of proven accounting experience, preferably in a senior role within the construction industry.
3. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
4. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel.
5. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, with a demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage and develop a high-performing finance team.
8. Must be able to meet deadlines and handle a high volume workload in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
9. Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff, as well as external partners and stakeholders.
